Confidence

Awhile back I wrote about an experience we had with our local Girl Scout Council. We went away from the meeting feeling very discouraged. I just thought it would be nice to give an update on the situation. The Council has decided to keep the camp open for troop camping, although there will be no Council events planned for the venue. While we are extremely happy about this outcome, we know the camp is still in danger and could be closed at any time if it is not used enough. We know that there is still work to be done. However, the thing that pleases me most is that my girls feel a real sense of accomplishment. They realize that their thoughts and their presence at the meeting did have an effect after all. I believe that this will certainly help them as they grow and mature; that they will have more courage to stand up for something that they feel strongly about. I don't particularly want them to become protesters, but I do want them to express their beliefs and feelings in an assertive way. This will become more and more important as they get older and their spiritual values are challenged. Even if their experience had turned out differently, I'm sure they would have learned something. But I am so glad that it turned out this way and that they are more confident in their ability to make a difference. They will need the confidence that they gained from this experience to go along with their confidence in God. What a blessing it is to be able to watch them grow.

"And this is the confidence which we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us." 1 John 5:14
