Baby bird update

The baby birds are flying! We came home the other day and found one of the little birds sitting on the porch railing under the nest. As we came up onto the porch, it flew a little ways and landed on our van. The other two babies seemed interested in this, but not quite ready to take the plunge themselves. The next day, the first baby was again sitting on our porch and this time flew a bit farther, over to the corner of our neighbor's roof. It gradually hopped it's way up to the peak over their porch and there it sat for quite a while. The entertainment started shortly. First the parents kept flying by this little bird, trying to encourage it to take off. Nope--Baby 1 wasn't having any part of that. So, the folks got some back-up--maybe some aunts and uncles-- and they all took turns "buzzing" Baby 1. It was pretty funny! But Baby 1 was stubborn. At one point it was even hanging on to the edge of the roof, practically upside down, but it wasn't going to fly! I think eventually it flew down to a fence, but only when it was good and ready. Meanwhile, the parents were also hovering around the nest where the other two babies were still hanging out. The babies would just open their mouths and chirp, chirp, chirp whenever a parent would come over. I think they were saying, "Feed me!" but the parents just wanted them to fly. Anyway, now they are all out of the nest. We've seen them come back every once in a while, but for the most part, they are out soaring through the skies, just as God intended. We sure have enjoyed watching the whole process.
